STORIES Circle Event #7: REACH/LA
FAM partnered with REACH-LA in May 2023 for “Let’s Talk About It!” the seventh community event in the STORIES Circle story-telling event series.
Held at REACH’s downtown facility, the event focused on the stories of young people between 18-35 years of age whose life had been impacted by HIV. Speaking at the event was HIV activist Jamar Rogers, the performer who wowed TV audiences with his soulful singing on Season 2 of The Voice. Rogers inspired us all with his personal story about discovering the depths of his resilience and power in the process of managing his HIV.
Like in past STORIES Circle events, we gathered in small circles to share personal stories about how HIV & AIDS has impacted our lives. We invite you to watch videos of the event:
– Highlights (6½ minutes)
– Longer video with speeches (35 minutes)
Funding for this event was provided in part by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Participating organizations included The Minority AIDS Project and CITY.x.1.
The mission of the STORIES Circle event series is to build community and foster storytelling among those affected by HIV & AIDS and expand awareness of STORIES: The AIDS Monument.
