STORIES Circle Event Series

To build community and foster storytelling among those affected by HIV & AIDS and expand awareness of STORIES: The AIDS Monument, FAM held STORIES Circle events in May and June 2022:

  • The AMAAD Institute partnered with FAM to co-host the STORIES Circle event Resilience + Repairing: Memoirs Untold on May 19, 2022 at Magic Johnson Park in the Willowbrook neighborhood of South LA.  Please click here to watch a video of the event.
  • The Senior Services program (ages 50+) of the Los Angeles LGBT Center co-hosted the event HIV STORIES Circle at the Center’s Pride Hall on June 21.  The guest of honor was Phill Wilson, founder of the Black AIDS Institute and former Vice Chair of FAM.   • Bienestar co-hosted the event Almas Resistentes: Historias de Fortaleza at Placita de Delores at the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument on June 25.  The guest of honor was Octavio Vallejo, M.D., community leader, HIV healthcare advocate and former program manager for AIDS Project Los Angeles.  Please click here to watch a short highlights video from the event.

To date, more than 300 people have gathered for a STORIES Circle event and participated in the storytelling activity.
